To enhance their knowledge and understanding of the different levels of services provided by CRSI, five members of the Board of Trustees toured several locations this summer along with this writer and Scott DeLong, president.
Starting in Bellefontaine, the group visited an ICF group home in Bellefontaine. Led by Support Manager Mary Fogle and Program Specialist Samantha Holland; Jorja Woodward, Alice Schlemmer, Joanne Petty, Ed Corwin and Bill Denkewalter learned about the services provided at the Richard Ave. group home where five ladies reside. Woodward, Petty and Denkewalter are relatively new members of the board.
Next, a stop was made in Kenton where the group visited a Waiver group home on Chesney St. that four ladies call home. The tour was led by Program Specialist Samantha Holland.
A visit was then made to the Strive adult day services program in Findlay where Habilitation Specialist Jodi Hassan led the group through the home-like atmosphere of the day program on Richard Avenue, also known as Thompson Place.
After lunch at the Bistro in Findlay, the group moved on to the Mary Ann Brown Center in Lima, an ICF location resembling a nursing home facility for those unable to live in a group home setting. Led by Program Administrator Dena Snavely, the group toured the large facility which features four wings with separate living and kitchen areas for eight individuals in each wing.
A last stop was made at a newly acquired property on Shawnee Rd. that is being remodeled to house the new Strive program in Lima, slated to open in August.
