Than Johnson
Chief Executive Officer

After serving on the original incorporating board of Champaign Residential Services in 1976, Than Johnson assumed the position of CEO 1983. Than is a graduate of Wilmington College and received his BA in 1970. He completed graduate level course work at Miami University from 1970-74.
Than prefaced his professional career in Developmental Disabilities (DD), first as a public school teacher in New Miami School District. He subsequently moved into the position of Residential Administrator for Preble County Board of DD and then to the Ohio Department of DD as a Program Administrator at Orient Developmental Center. Than was also an instructor at Columbus State Community College.
He has served in numerous key positions in ANCOR (American Network of Community Options and Resources) including serving as President. Than is the current President of OPRA (Ohio’s association).
Equally notable is Than's rich history of service to his community. He served on the Board of Trustees of Clark State Community College for 18 years. He has served or is currently serving on the boards of the Champaign Family YMCA, the Champaign County Chamber and Visitors Bureau (he has served as president of both organizations), the Champaign Community Improvement Council (CIC) and the Champaign County Library. Than was appointed to the National Medicare Advisory Council by President Bush. He serves on numerous national committees of Medicaid and healthcare issues and was invited to participate in the National Summit on Disabilities Policy 2010 (NCD).
Than and his wife, Kathy, live in Urbana. They are the parents of three sons and have four grandchildren.
