Expansion plans and new horizons for CRSI’s ADS program were shared with visitors at an open house on March 8 in celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The event was held in partnership with the Champaign Co. Board of DD and other area providers to showcase services available in Champaign County.
County board representatives from various counties stopped in to have a look at the CRSI Adult Day Services (ADS) program, many stating needs for similar programs in their own counties.
A new theme for the CRSI ADS program was introduced during the event. Strive@CRSI pieces together various components, each giving people with developmental disabilities meaningful skills for life. Independent living, personal growth, leisure, recreation, the arts, education, jobs, community involvement, wellness, teamwork and communication are just a few of the opportunities offered.
“The turnout was fantastic, with family members and several counties represented. All were very excited to see and experience the changes we are making to expand personal growth opportunities for those we serve”, said Dave Faulkner, program development administrator. “A lot of great things are happening with Strive@CRSI and we were proud to share a special day with the public and encourage visitors to come see us often.”
