Urbana: Marvin Stevens, CRSI Board Trustee for over thirty-three years, was named Outstanding Senior Citizen of 2011 by the Area Agency on Aging on May 25 during the Champaign County Senior Center’s Annual Senior Day. The agency represents nine counties including Champaign. Stevens was selected from nominations representing all nine counties served by the agency.

Stevens, now 92 years young, has served his community both politically and through volunteerism for over eighty years; beginning with his membership at the Terre Haute Methodist Church as a child, where he began learning the value of helping others. He later became a Champaign County commissioner, a member of the very first Graham Schools Board, of Education an Antioch Shrine member for sixty-five years, an Urbana Lions Club member for thirty-nine years; and the list goes on and on.

Marvin Stevens is a man of character, who has lived his life with integrity, humility and dedication to his family, his church and his community. Marvin is what we all hope to grow up and become.
