Marysville: According to a press release from the Union Co. Board of DD, Champaign Residential Services was recently honored for its efforts to “make a difference” and was presented with a Community Starfish Award.
The award is given to individuals or organizations who through their words and/or actions have “made a difference” by going above and beyond the call of duty for the benefit of an individual with developmental disabilities. It was awarded to CRSI for its sponsorship of Grease, a theatrical production held in July at the Veterans Memorial in Marysville.
CRSI received a framed certificate with the following Starfish story:
An old man was walking an ocean shoreline littered with hundreds of starfish. He observed a young boy attempting to save them all by throwing them back into the water. “You can’t save them all,” said the old man. “And besides, what difference will it really make?” The young boy picked up another, threw it in the water and said, “I’m not sure, but I think it will make a difference to that one!”
Making a difference starts with taking one step, throwing one starfish back into the ocean, according the UCBDD.
