Dual Ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Vancrest and Rainbow Wing
Urbana: Vancrest Health Care Center of Urbana and the CRSI Paul Loffing Rainbow Wing jointly held a VIP Open House and ribbon-cutting ceremonies on May 20 to celebrate the newly remodeled and renovated facilities located at 2380 U.S. Highway 68, just south of Urbana (formerly the Wellington nursing facility).
The event was primarily held to thank the long list of contractors, vendors and community leaders “for supporting our respective organizations’ efforts to improve the quality of life for our residents” according to Than Johnson, CEO of CRSI who also introduced the White family of Van Wert to nearly 100 guests in attendance.
With assistance from the Champaign Co. Chamber of Commerce, two ribbon -cutting ceremonies took place to recognize both organizations’ renovation efforts.
Vancrest, Ltd., owner of eight nursing homes and other healthcare facilities in Ohio is family-owned by President Mark White and his brother and sister Steve White and Carol White. Jennifer Brock, introduced by Mark White as “the local face in Urbana”, is the administrator of the Urbana facility. The company bought the Wellington in July 2008 from the Champaign County Commissioners.
CRSI also purchased from the Commissioners the twenty-bed licenses in the unit now known as the Paul Loffing Rainbow Wing where services are provided by CRSI for individuals with developmental disabilities. That portion of the building now has a brand new entrance and parking at the northwest side of the building so that families and visitors do not need to walk through the nursing care facility, giving more privacy to all residents.
A “Community Open House” was also held on Sunday, May 23.
