Nightingale Promoted - Lucas Co.

Janeene Nightingale has the same title of Program Specialist as she did while working in Defiance County, but her transfer of duties to Lucas County is considered a promotion based on her new level of responsibilities, according to Cristin Schappert, program administrator for the northwest region. “Janeene has taken on a larger, more complex county in terms of consumers and the number of employees she is responsible for. She is dynamic and thorough in what she does.”

As a program specialist, Nightingale, who has been with CRSI since 2008, manages the Lucas County satellite office and coordinates services in Lucas County under the direction of Schappert.

Her responsibilities include overseeing all direct care staff in Lucas County totaling approximately fifty employees (compared to nineteen in Defiance County). CRSI serves approximately seventeen individuals in Lucas (compared to twelve in Defiance), however, many of those in Lucas County are more intense medical and behavioral (dual diagnosis) according to Nightingale. She is responsible for scheduling and juggling shifts to cover all Individual Service Plans (ISP).

“The volume of responsibility has increased dramatically for me”, says Nightingale. “There is more tracking of health-related issues such as medications, doctor’s appointments and hospitalizations; which leads to more documentation, paperwork, monitoring and home visits to ensure consumer needs are being met. I also meet with staff on all issues that need to be addressed.”

As program specialist, Nightingale works closely with the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, behavior specialists, habilitation specialists, guardians and families to follow through with each ISP.

“Our employees are not only care-givers; but also mentors, counselors and positive-role models. Behaviors have improved because of our staff. They do a phenomenal job,” says Nightingale.

“Toledo is a growing territory and my personal goal is to make sure homes are run smoothly, while taking care of consumer needs; and for CRSI to be the top provider in Lucas County.
