RE:  New Building

Urbana:  As announced by Than Johnson, CEO of Champaign Residential Services, Inc., CRSI has begun construction of a free-standing, multi-purpose building located between the current CRSI corporate office at 1150 Scioto Street and U. S. Highway 36. The additional space will total 9,000 sq. ft. with 2,400 sq. ft. being occupied by the Council on Rural Services for its Kids Learning Place, an early childcare program.

A portion of the development project is being paid for by the Council on Rural Services through funding received from the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Currently, the Council on Rural Services leases 4,000 sq. ft. of space from CRSI for its early childhood preschool program. It plans to use the 2400 sq. ft. of additional space for the operation of an Infant and Toddler classroom.

Shirley Hathaway, Executive Director said, “We are pleased to partner with CRSI in building this new space in order to provide comprehensive, high quality infant and toddler services for the Urbana community. We are looking forward to a Grand Opening in the fall.”

CRSI will use the remaining 6,600 sq. ft. of additional space for consumer services and activities; and other CRSI programs such as employee training, conferences and group meetings.

The project is due for completion in October.
