Urbana: Laura Kiehn, marketing specialist for Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI) is one of thirty professionals from around the country selected by The National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) to participate in the 2003 New Leaders Academy in Washington D.C. The year-long professional management and training program is designed to equip mid-level youth service professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully manage and lead youth programs.
Kiehn's responsibilities at CRSI include youth program development and grant management. She is also currently involved in curriculum and program development for the Juvenile Employment Training Services (JETS) administered by CRSI.
In addition to her full time employment schedule Kiehn is also finishing her Bachelor's degree in Human Services at Urbana University and is expecting to graduate in May. She resides in Urbana and is the mother of two children Robert (14) and Anna (13).
The NYEC is a network of over 200 youth employment/development organizations dedicated to promoting policies and practices that help young people to succeed and to increase public understanding and support for youth employment and development initiatives. The first training session class will convene February 24-28 in Washington D.C.
