A dream becomes reality for Mercer Co. individiual

By LINDA D. SMITH, Public Relations Director

Champaign Residential Services,  Inc.

Mercer Co.:   Jamey Stachler of St Henry, Ohio, has had a long-held dream to secure his own disc jockey business. With the help of the Mercer Co. Board of Developmental Disabilities (known as the Cheryl Ann programs) funds were available through the Individual Options Resources (I/O) Waiver for individuals who want to work in the community rather than at the adult vocational program - CA Industries.

With I/O waiver approval, the needed disc jockey equipment was purchased and Jamey, 33, now provides his DJ services at different functions in the community. He has a wide-range of music genre that spans generations from country and classical, to rock ‘n roll, Jamie plays it all (except heavy metal which he deems offensive).

He was diagnosed with tuberous schlerosis, a calcium deposit disorder, at the age of 15 months. According to Jamey, he has a mild case and is fortunate not to need a wheel-chair. He lives with his parents and CRSI was asked to assist him with learning some independent living skills in order to live on his own.

In December, Jamie provided his DJ services at a CRSI employee/training party in Auglaize Co. According to Sue Ulis, program administrator, his services were very professional, appropriate and attentive to the needs of the group.

Jamie can be reached at jameysjamsdj@gmail.com.
