In the News Organization: Champaign Residential Services, Inc. RE:Community News Hannah vying for presidency John Hannah, consumer advocate for Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI) is vying for President of People First of Ohio. The office is a two-year term at the helm of the organization's twenty-four member board. People First began in Ohio in 1998 by a group of self-advocates who wanted to improve their abilities to represent themselves in the community. It provides assistance, training and support to help local chapters make community programs more inclusive. The organization is headquartered in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Local chapters of People First are groups of people living with disabilities helping other people with disabilities to become self-advocates in the community. "My interest in People First of Ohio is to help manage the organization and keep it friendly," says Hannah. "I also want to get people involved in voting in local community elections. To help them, I would like to see picture ballots and would like to be involved with the State to accomplish this," according to Hannah. Hannah is a consumer living with disabilities working full-time as a consumer advocate to help others with disabilities make their own choices and find solutions. Members from community chapters of People First will vote on board member selections and officers at the quarterly People First meeting held in Mt. Vernon on March 8. Hannah encourages members of People First chapters to attend and vote. For more information about People First, contact CRSI at 937-652-1320.
