Faulkner Speaks on Autism to Boston Audience
By LINDA D. SMITH, Public Relations Director
Sean Faulkner, consumer advocate for CRSI, spoke at the New England Center for Children (NECC) Board of Advisors meeting about his life with autism. The meeting, held April 28 in Boston, Massachusetts, was attended by approximately one hundred people from the business and autism communities.
Faulkner was diagnosed at an early age with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and started school at the young age of three at the New England Center for Autism which is now the NECC.
During his presentation, he outlined his life from his early years through his current status as a freshman at Clark State Community College, holding a 3.56 GPA.
Faulkner stated to the group that, “What I have found out is most people think that people with autism cannot function in the real world. But as you all know there are many levels to being autistic. Thanks to my autism being identified early and..having many advocates...to support me, I was very lucky with my early childhood education…”.
“I’m interested in a lot of things, but for now I think I’ll pursue a degree in Sociology,” says Faulkner of his plans for the future.
