Chain link represents connectivity to one another
Urbana: People are connected in various ways and to demonstrate that universal connectivity, a chain was created with red and green links.
As explained by Karen Angels, program specialist (in photo with microphone), the green links contained words and phrases everyone likes to hear; words that make anyone feel “supported”. The red links contained words and phrases no one wants to hear; words that make anyone feel bad.
During the Champaign/Clark Christmas party, the links were read one at a time, and the red links were removed from the chain, symbolizing how negative words and actions influence connectedness to one another.
