Fusion 40.83 in downtown Urbana is hosting its second Celebrity Chef Benefit this coming Tuesday, featuring the Robert Rothschild Farm Product Development Team of Bridget Sherman and John Larison beginning at 5 p.m. Restaurant owners Chef Yesho Chetty and Remko Bloemhard are planning this second of a series of events to benefit Rothschild’s charity of choice.
Rothschild’s President and CEO Jim Gordon has designated the recipient to be the 30th Annual Bill Butler Champaign Open - BBCO; held by CRSI, a not-for-profit corporation. The golf event, scheduled for August 15 at the Urbana County Club, benefits individuals with developmental disabilities.
Fusion 40.83 owners have committed to donating 10% of the day’s proceeds. “Our commitment is to hold regular fund-raising events to benefit local charities in a meaningful way. Our donation is not based on tips or a percentage of net profits, but on gross sales at Fusions for the entire day,” says Bloemhard.
The Rothschild team will assist the Fusion’s chefs in preparing a pan seared shrimp appetizer with a main course of pan seared pork chops, potatoes, and garnishes using donated Rothschild products. The meal is elective by patrons who can also order off the menu and still benefit the 30th annual BBCO.
The first event, held March 20, featured celebrity chef Audra Bean, wife of Mayor Bill Bean, who offered her favorite recipes as well as her time in the kitchen to benefit Champaign County Citizens for Canines, a group raising funds to build a dog park within Melvin Miller City Park. The event netted the organization a donation of over $300 from Fusion.40.83.
