An Artistic Flair for Oil
Patty Orlijan, 44, of Greenville has a flair for oil painting. She grew up in California where her hobby was inspired before moving to Ohio ten years ago. She loves working on a variety of crafts but painting is her best and favorite talent.
In 2012, Patty attended the Nova day program in Troy where she was able to improve her skills under the direction of an art instructor. The two works of art shown are a product of her course work. With the help of Debbie Edwards, CRSI program specialist, both pieces have been entered to be a part of the 7th Annual Art & Soul Exhibit in Kettering.
The exhibit is sponsored by Toward Independence, Partners for Community Living, and the DD Boards of Butler, Greene, Hamilton, Warren and Montgomery Counties. It is a regional, juried art exhibit open to artists with developmental disabilities. Winning entries will be announced in March. If Patty’s work is chosen, it will be exhibited as part of the art show.
The Art & Soul Exhibit takes place from April 1-15 at the Town & Country Fine Art Center at 300 Stroop Road, Kettering. An awards ceremony will take place on April 4 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Exhibited artwork is also available for sale to the public during the event.
