MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY

Champaign Residential Services Inc.’s (CRSI) mission and philosophy is to empower and support individuals with challenges to provide an opportunity to develop their maximum level of independence as they choose. It is the intent of CRSI to value lifestyles and choices by all individuals served.

Inherent in this commitment is the establishment of quality support systems for those at risk that enhance physical, intellectual, emotional, communication, vocational, and social skills according to the individual’s needs, abilities and choices.

HISTORY

Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI) provides services for individuals with challenges in the State of Ohio. CRSI is a non-profit corporation organized by concerned citizens and parents to provide community supports for individuals with challenges (MR/DD). It is governed by a seventeen-member volunteer board of trustees. It was incorporated August 24, 1976, with a stated purpose, "to promote, plan, and provide services that support citizens with disabilities."

CRSI provides services in over 30 counties in Ohio. Services are based on the needs of the individuals and can range from 24 hours a day to only a few hours each week. These services include home health supports, group home services, assistance in daily living, money management, leisure time/recreation, transportation, advocacy, ancillary, medical assistance, management services and other supports.

Champaign Residential Services Inc. recognizes the individuality of each consumer. Therefore, personal choice remains the most important consideration and determines all supports which surround the life of the consumer. Service supports range from assistance with daily living skills to social/recreational experiences and advocacy for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Trained staff are prepared to provide services in Medicaid certified ICF/MR funded homes, in addition to individualized support in either a Supported Living or Community Based Waiver environment.

CRSI's corporate office is located in Urbana, Ohio and has satellite offices located in Madison, Clark, Defiance, Miami, Allen, Logan, Auglaize and Franklin Counties.

CRSI will continue to provide services under its mission of assisting individuals with disabilities to maximize their independence in residential living and provide supports as requested. Federal and state monies are used to fund the services provided. Operating monies are generated from state/federal allocations and not local property tax levy dollars. CRSI returns over $18 million per year of state and federal funds to the local communities through salaries and the purchase of local services and supplies.

All phases of CRSI services are periodically surveyed by the Ohio Department of MR/DD, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, CARF and the County Boards of MR/DD, as well as local and state fire, sanitation, health and building inspectors. Specific service quality levels, along with other criteria, must be routinely checked in order to maintain certification and licensing. CRSI also employs consumers with disabilities, including Consumer Advocate, John Hannah, who conducts consumer satisfaction surveys to assist CRSI on quality improvement.
